Pickering WW2 weekend October 2017
Pickering is always a good day out and this year we decided to doing something we hadn't done has a group before. Our idea was to portray an ARP and Civil defence Heavy Rescue Squad just come off an all night rescue of people from bombed out buildings.
The Squad consisted of Bluey,Nick,Vic,Digger,Andy,Shaun and joined by Jamie from an out of town Section. I think we paid respect to all the unsung Brave men and women of the Wartime ARP/CD. Again it is a portrayal that we hope to build on at other events.
Rufford Abbey Sept 2017
As this event had been resurrected we decided that we would attend in our first outing as RP/R (Repair Party Road). It was an early War portrayal 39/40 so as not only road repair but also painting out and removal of road signs and the chiselling out of place names on stone road signs. All the stuff that was needed to confuse the Bosch did they manage to get Past the LDV. Our work gang consisted of Forman Bluey, College educated Nick, Signwriter Rod and Digger (chief cook and tea masher). It was great weekend and we were well accepted by the public and other groups. It is a portrayal we hope to build on at other events.
Barnard Castle
In the summer, Myself ,Rob and Nick had a great day out at this North Yorkshire Town WW2 event. Our portrayals were Nick as SFP (Street Fire Party), Rob as Royal Signals Officer and myself as Merchant Navy Seaman.
